KAPUSKASING – On April 1, 2019, at approximately 5:45 p.m., members of the James Bay Detachments of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), stopped a driver for a driving infraction on Government Road in the Town of Kapuskasing, Ontario.

Police investigation revealed that the male driver was impaired by alcohol.

Jean Francoeur, 30 years old, of Kapuskasing, Ontario, has been charged with Operation While Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs contrary to section 320.14(1)(a) of the Criminal Code (CC) and Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 plus) contrary to section 320.14(1)(b) CC.

He is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Kapuskasing, Ontario, on May 27, 2019, to answer to the charges.

The driver was served with a 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS) and the motor vehicle was impounded for seven days.

Police are asking the public to call the authorities if they see someone getting behind the wheel after having consumed intoxicating substances.
