KAPUSKASING – Three-time Olympic medalist and one of Canada’s figure skating icons Meagan Duhamel and her husband, international skating coach Bruno Marcotte, will be hosting a two-day seminar for Kapuskasing’s up and coming hopefuls.
The Kapuskasing Figure Skating Club will give them the floor, or rather the ice, the weekend of February 17th for a long list of world-class workshops aimed at developing new training techniques and better skaters. Club President Natacha Grant believes the pair bring experience, knowledge and techniques that will be new to most attending.
It is one of many seminars given by the Duhamels since Meagan and pairs partner Eric Radford’s retirement from competition in April of 2018.
She has been touring the Sudbury area to deliver these clinics in order to give back to the communities that hold the sport so near and dear to their heart.
Earlier last summer, she mentioned to the Sudbury Star that competitive skating was at an all time low in her hometown due to Skate Ontario removing big competitions in Sudbury and North Bay.
Hopefully this weekend of intensive training helps local skaters flourish into great competitive skaters. Registration is still open ahead of the seminar. For more details, one can contact Emilie Lemieux at emilieeric1@gmail.com.
