Kapuskasing council donates nearly $2,000 from meters to Nalin Mehta Memorial Santa Claus Fund

KAPUSKASING – For the 14th consecutive year, the Nalin Mehta Memorial Santa Claus Fund received a major donation from the Town of Kapuskasing.

At last week’s Committees of the Whole/Council meeting, mayor David Plourde made a cheque presentation in the amounth $1,929 to Kapuskasing Rotary Club representative Rick Bartlett, for the Fund.

During the holidays, the Town of Kapuskasing traditionally collects of two weeks of revenue from parking meters, which the municipality then turns over to the Santa Claus Fund.

Mayor Plourde, said that this cause is one that is particularly important to him since it was a thoughtful citizen, who had initially brought the idea to council  years ago.
