Recently, former Kapuskasing Flyers forward and Model Town native Mathieu Parent, who now plays the Alexandria Glens junior hockey team, was selected as one of three star players on the second circuit of the Central Canada Hockey League (CCHL2).

The Kapuskasing native earned the distinction after scoring two goals and notching four assists for his club in two games against the Richmond Royals and the Embrun Panthers.

In his first season in the yellow, green and white Glens uniform, Mathieu has stood out from his teammates.

In 32 games, the Franco-Ontarian is ranked third in scoring with 10 goals and 21 assists. The Alexandria Glens are currently in fourth place in the CCHL2 Martin Division.

Last season, Parent scored 17 goals and 27 assists in 36 games in the Kapuskasing Flyers lineup of the Great North Midget AAA Hockey League (GNML), and one assist in nine games with the Hearst Lumberjacks of the Northern Ontario Junior A Hockey League (NOJHL).
