KAPUSKASING – With the New Year fast approaching, Sensenbrenner Hospital is truly feeling the Christmas cheer and outpouring generosity from the community, as fundraising efforts continue towards the acquisition of a CT Scanner for the region. In the past two weeks, the hospital received a total of $16,450 in donations from the following community partners:
Kapuskasing Fire Department Volunteer Group
The volunteer firefighter group has always played a big role in giving back to the community. Every year they donate to local charities and people in need in Kapuskasing. This year, one of the group’s members proposed donating towards the CT Scanner project, and as a group they voted on giving $10,000 to help bring this much-needed service to the community. Mr. Paul Nadeau, the group’s treasurer, offered perspective into their important decision, “A number of factors have influenced us, but the major reason is that we respond to multiple motor vehicle collisions every year. If we can do our part to take a family off the road by helping in offering imaging services right here in Kapuskasing, then we have reduced the chance of having to respond to potentially fatal accidents involving someone we know. We are extremely honoured to support this cause.” Pat Kennedy, Fire Chief of the Kapuskasing Fire Department, says he is very proud of the volunteer firefighters’ fundraising efforts, “They work hard year after year to raise funds in order to support local causes. This is a very generous donation that will benefit the entire community.”
RPM Hydraulics & Pneumatics
For Pierre and Nancy Isabelle, owners of RPM in Kapuskasing, donating $5,000 to this great cause was an easy decision. “In the past we would thank our customers with a little gift as a token of our appreciation during the holidays. We decided that donating to the CT Scanner fund would be a wonderful way of giving back. Our contribution will be put to great use and countless people from Kapuskasing and area will be able to benefit from this service”, expressed Mrs. Isabelle. “RPM will be celebrating its 25th anniversary in 2019 and we thought this was the perfect opportunity to give back to our community.”
La Caisse Alliance
The staff at the Kapuskasing Caisse Populaire added to the CT Scanner campaign by handing over a cheque in the amount of $1,450 as part of their “Movember” fundraising efforts. This collaborative effort was shared amongst nearly 300 employees in the Caisse Alliance network of Northern Ontario. Through this initiative, the employees raised over $725, and the Caisse Alliance head office doubled the amount in order to help with the acquisition of a CT Scanner for Kapuskasing.
Mrs. France Dallaire, CEO of Sensenbrenner Hospital, expressed her sincere gratitude to the Volunteer Firefighter Group, RPM Hydraulics & Pneumatics and La Caisse Populaire for their contributions towards the CT Scanner. “It’s very heartwarming to be the recipient of such goodwill and generosity from our community partners. They play an important role in the improvement of patient care for the region. We are extremely grateful for their support.”
