Two local bowling duos will be heading to Thunder Bay in February after qualifying for the Provincial Hi-Low Championship in a regional tournament held recently at North Side Lanes.
The team of Réjean Robichaud and Richard Labelle and the team of Gerry Poliquin and Gerry Losier finished first and second respectively at the local tournament.
“We had a rough first three games but things really picked up for us after that,” said Labelle. “We’re excited to have qualified for the tournament in Thunder Bay. I haven’t been to a ton of tournaments out of town, but every time I have, it’s been a really good time. I think we’re all looking forward to it.”
The Hi-Low format sees bowlers try to beat their own respective averages. Every point above average is counted as a point for the team. Points below average are counted against the team. The duo garnering the highest total number of points above average is declared the winner.
